Probiotic Air Optimiser Diffuser Test - Cat Dander

22nd March 2022

This independent study by BMA-Labor GbR tested whether Provilan SEM 091, when used in a diffuser, could reduce the presence of Fel d 1 – the primary allergen found in cat dander, and a major trigger for pet-related allergies.

Researchers applied Fel d 1 extract (sourced from domestic cat hair) to cotton squares and exposed them to Provilan mist in a sealed chamber for one hour. Compared to untreated samples, the treated squares showed a 57.9% allergen reduction – a significant improvement in a very short time.

The test followed strict laboratory procedures, including allergen detection by ELISA immunoassay and controlled sampling in a 5-litre beaker environment. The allergen content was accurately measured before and after treatment, confirming the results.

This study highlights how Provilan’s probiotic air purification can offer a gentle, effective way to reduce cat dander allergens without chemicals, filters, or fragrances. It’s ideal for homes with cats – especially where allergies, asthma, or skin sensitivities are a concern.

The findings reinforce the role of airborne probiotics as a natural and science-backed solution to improving indoor air quality and creating a more allergy-friendly home for both humans and pets.
